UPDATE: Auburn Police respond to report of shots fired

UPDATE, 8/30/25:
AUBURN, Ala. - On Aug. 30, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Le’Gregory Ty’reil Blanks, age 19, from Wetumpka, Alabama on felony warrants charging him with four counts of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle and reckless endangerment.
The arrest stems from Auburn Police responding to shots fired when officers patrolling in the downtown area heard gunfire during the early morning hours of Aug. 30. Police located the crime scene and confirmed that multiple unoccupied vehicles were struct by gunfire near the 100 block of North College Street. The unknown suspect fled the area prior to officers arrival.
Le’Gregory Ty’reil Blanks was developed as a suspect and Auburn Police Department detectives, with assistance from Elmore County Sheriff’s Office deputies, located Blanks in Wetumpka, Alabama. After further investigation, Blanks was arrested for charges associated with the incident.
Blanks was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $21,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

AUBURN, Ala. - On Aug. 30, 2025, at approximately 2:27 a.m., Auburn Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of North College Street. Responding officers located shell casings and parked vehicles struck by projectiles.
An altercation between individuals may have led to a firearm being discharged. There have been no reports of victims struck by gunfire.
